The Mod Files Vol. 3 Modeno the Case of the Extra Stripe

The Third Mod File is rather summery affair designed back in much more wintery times. I think heavy snow may well have been sweeping much of the UK at the time. The change is actually not that huge and not actually explicitly asked for. The stationery range in question is Modeno (I think that’s going to be the subject of another future mod files to). I had to accommodate what seemed at the beginning a pretty challenging colour scheme featuring several shades of green as well as Summer Meadow Yellow and Pink, the challenge here being that there was four colours to accommodate. At first this was a struggle to accommodate all the colours in a balanced fashion so I changed the number of stripes in the design to allow us to accommodate all the colours. The second picture in Blue and Cream shows the normal version of Modeno. After many drafts and lots of great feedback from our clients we eventually got to a design which I think was pretty awesome. We got a very nice testimonial to from Stella and Nick so I think our customers were happy to. And I did change the names once the colours were sorted;) The final picture is of a sample we now use in the same colours.

Navy & Orange - Trieste Booklet Invitation colour scheme

This weekend I am mostly loving Navy and Orange. Shown in here in two guises we have two Trieste Booklet designs. One where the main background colour is still white, it is a wedding invitation after all and one where there is no white – no need for everyone to be traditional!

We can do pretty much any colours our clients want and even if then there is a variety of ways we can interpret that dependent on what our clients want to achieve.

These are just images straight from the computer design. When actually made this design normally features Swarovski crystals. A sample Table Name in the same colours has been made recently which will hopefully be appearing on the website soon. The Mod Files Vol. 2 Sienna with butterflies

The Mod files are where I'll detail some of the alterations we've made to our designs to customise them for our clients. Most of these involve no added expense for our clients.

Volume 2 is a bit of an easy one. At least from my point of view and like Volume 1 Naples was partly involved again. This time though our clients Kathryn and Chris were interested in Naples and Sienna. They initially decided on Sienna but when the time came to finalise the order butterflies had re-emerged in their wedding plans so we now had to find a way to incorporate butterflies into the design of Sienna. This was actually not a very hard task as me and Kathryn both had the same idea on how to add some small butterflies into the design (great minds think alike). On the Artemis Stationery website there are a couple of little butterflies flying across the footer. I borrowed these from the footer and added them into the Sienna design. The Mod Files Vol.1 Sassari

I thought I’d take the chance of the blog to show some of the orders where we have altered the designs for our customers. We do really try and make stationery ordered from Artemis Stationery as personal for each of our clients as possible.

Volume 1 of the mod files is actually a range (so a little off topic) but did come about in the same way as most of the future entries to the mod files (the next two are written but I don’t often get time to blog so will be putting them up slowly). Back in the Autumn we had a sample request which included our Naples range which features butterflies flying over a floral backdrop with the Bride and Grooms name in the fore ground. Once we got emailing though it became apparent that birds and particularly love birds were really Lauren and Ian’s interest. Possibly asking if we had anything similar to Naples but featuring birds did give it away – I can be pretty slow at times;P

We were quite light on bird designs so this was an excellent opportunity to design a new range. We based it on love birds as these were Lauren and Ian’s preferred birds so to speak and given their name it made a lot of sense to use them. I must admit I had heard of lovebirds before but didn’t know they were a mini parrots, I think I thought they were some sort of bird of paradise. They are named due to their strong monogamous mating habits and the high amount of time pairs spend together.

Anyway after staring at lots of images and a fair few sketches and emails from Lauren and Ian we had six flying love birds ready to put into a design. I think six was a good number because it meant each one had a partner which seemed appropriate given it is primarily for wedding invites though as a rule odd numbers look best together. Then we borrowed the background from the Naples Trifold card and Sassari was born.

Florence Trifold Wedding Invitations

Florence Trifold Invitations photos have been added to the site here. Florence is a simple and elegant floral design with art deco influences while the Trifold Invitations are an excellent way to make a big visual impression on your guests. As shown here the design is repeated throughout the invitation.

Trifold Invitations also allow a lot of information to be included in the Invitation, shown here is a detachable RSVP with space for guest names and a vegetarian menu choice, though other options like menu choices can be added. There is also space for information, like maps (which we draw for free), directions, gift list and accommodation details.

As with all of Artemis Stationery’s invitations we print guest names for free and envelopes for both the RSVP and the Trifold Invitation are included and posting boxes can be bought starting from 30p each. A full range of Florence Invitations is available as well as supporting items and day stationery.

Rimini Invites Featured in Perfect Wedding Magazine

Issue 44 of Perfect Wedding Magazine featured our Rimini Bifold Invitations. They were shown on page 20 on the Editors Welcome page as well as the Meadow Sweet feature in the white zone. The same magazine also featured our Tuscany place names in a round up for place names.

Genoa Stationery

Christmas

Known as Natale, which is Christmas in Italian this range is based on the popular and versatile Verona range but features a holly and berries design instead of the roses of Verona. Below is the design in a variety of colours, including the classic green as well burgundy and purple. We think it's a great way of bringing a Christmas feel to a Christmas wedding while being able to reflect your own colour scheme.

Artemis Stationery is excited to now be advertising in Brides magazine. Brides magazine is the UK's biggest selling bridal magazine and is made by Conde Nast who also publish Vogue. It is published 6 times a year and the Nov/Dec issue which is currently out is the second we've advertised in. Our current advert reflects the old website while our advert for the next issue will reflect the new websites colour scheme and new card types and is shown below.

Trifold Cards

Our new trifold cards are now going up on the site. They will be available for any range but Milan. Pictured beneath are our Sienna, Naples and Modeno versions. These cards are 6 sided. Effectively having a front and a back, then an intermediate side before the 3 internal panels which has the main invitation text in the centre, an information panel on one side and a detachable RSVP on the other. Any pattern is one the rsvp and the panel behind. Additional text may be added behind the rsvp.

Buying advice for stationery

Some things to consider when buying stationery

-With some stationery sellers its wise to order extra of each item as they keep their minimum order requirements when ordering additional items after the main order or charge a premium rate per item on small orders. You may find yourself needing 5 more invites but having to buy 20 or paying over double the price per item. At artemis stationery we don't do this, we keep the same item price, the only other thing you'll have to pay for is the second delivery.

-Choosing a stationer who prints guest names can save a lot of time, effort and money (if you were going to use a calligrapher) and look really good. We print guest names as standard as standards. We just need them to be sent as computer text of some form so we can cut and paste, this way we won't misspell anything.

-Have several friends or relatives check any text you send to a stationer. As most including us will assume any text sent to them is correct and won't proof read.

-If you want to get people to keep your wedding date free but haven't got enough arranged to be able to send out your invites consider save the date cards. These let you formally tell your guests when your wedding is and that an invitation will follow. They're not a wedding essential but can be very useful depending on the circumstances.

-What's an order of the day? It's similar to the order of service as it can include information on a civil ceremony but also includes information about the day. Such as when photos will be taken and where. Times and places for the meal, start of the evening reception, etc. Can be useful as guests know when they free to wander and when they're not, which can be especially useful if guests are also staying at the venue. This information can be included at the end of a order of service.

-Struggling with the budget but don't want to cut stationery out totally? There is often a cheaper way to do most things without doing it yourself. We do offer large a5 invites but why not go for an A6 version or a postcard sized one. Our postcard invites start from £1 as opposed to £2 and more for the large invites. Things like menus aren't necessary but it can be good to let your guests know what they're about to eat even if they chose it in advance or there is no choice. Menu tents are good way of putting one menu on each table at a cheap price and these can be combined with table numbers to save further. Order of service can be expensive but one between two will often suffice.

First Wedding Fayre's for Artemis Stationery

Artemis Stationery attended our first wedding Fayre's in May and June, the first one was the guides for brides fayre at New Milton Hall. A De Vere hotel in Oxfordshire. The second show was at the Pedersen Winchester Hotel in Winchester and was organised by Valerie Monger (our stand is shown in the photos). It was great to be able to get out and talk to a lot of people and hear lots of positive feedback on our new stationery designs as well as take some orders.

The venues themselves were lovely. New Milton Hall hotel was on the edge of a industrial estate though once we sat outside the bar after the fayre all we could see was parkland. The inside of the hotel was gorgeous though. The Winchester Hotel had a much more urban setting and while the function rooms were not the largest they were beautifully laid out and it would make an excellent venue.

The next fayre's we do will be in the autumn. We will announce the Fayre's we're attending here when we book them.

Hi, I'm Nathan Gardiner and I'm the founder of Artemis Stationery and I have also started this blog for Artemis Stationery. For the post I thought I'd give a bit of information about what Artemis Stationery does and why we do it.

At Artemis Stationery we create and sell stationery that can fit into almost any wedding, that is unique and yet affordable to everyone but are still of the highest quality. All the stationery we sell is designed and made by us. All our artwork is one hundred percent original.

I have always had a passion for art, design and photography from primary school where I got in trouble for doing his friends drawings for them. After a life time of sketching I found a way to put that passion to good use after working as a designer in various other fields. I started making wedding stationery after my brother and his fiancé asked him to help with their wedding. That went well and after doing stationery, party invites and prints for many of my friends Artemis Stationery was born in 2009. Anything and everything can be inspiration from that well-known inspirational architectural program on channel 4 to the glorious countryside that surrounds where we are based. The beauty of nature and the joy and happiness of weddings are the main inspirations.

All our stationery is highly personalised. You chose the colours you want from our colour charts, these have thousands of colours on, we use the fonts you chose and will write what you want your stationery to say whether on the front or inside. This means all our designs can feature the bride and grooms names on the front of the invites. We will also print guest names on invites and place names as standard. We make many of ranges at a variety of price points, our invitations start from £1 each for many of our postcard invites.
